Hi, I am Jennifer. My friends call me Jen, so I hope you will to. I am a stay at home mom to three beautiful children, a business owner with my husband, and a lover of dark chocolate. I live in the bountiful, Yakima Valley in Washington state. I am surrounded by orchards, hop fields, and most of all, amazing people.
I have always loved learning about people and what makes each of us unique. I have a love of history, mostly learning about people and how they lived throughout history. Often I find myself trying to imagine myself in different periods of time or circumstances. This has lead to a love for family history. The researching is pretty difficult, but learning about the individuals is inspiring to me, and my hope is that the stories shared here will inspire you too.
In addition to my love of history, I love to cook, bake, and eat. I openly admit that I have a cooking show addiction. In college, I earned my degree in Family Consumer Science. The goal was to teach foods and nutrition classes until one day being hired for my dream job of working for Taste of Home. Needless to say, that is not what I am meant to be doing right now.
So, you may be thinking, "why delicious traditions?", "it is not a very original idea." This project is a way to combine my love of food and family history. The purpose of this site, Delicious Traditions, is to be a portal, so to speak, into the lives and recipe boxes of individuals that have brought generations together through food traditions. This site will be fueled by your family stories and your family recipes.
This new dream I am pursuing will be an incredible journey. I hope you will come with me on this journey as we learn about unique individual that have left a legacy through their food. It is also my hope that you will be inspired by their stories and traditions and in addition to finding their food delicious.
